Exporting Data

SeisMac 3.0 introduces the ability to export the captured seismic data to CSV, SAC or SACA files:

  • CSV stands for Comma Separated Values, and is useful for importing into spreadsheet programs. It stores all three axes of data.
  • SAC stands for Seismic Analysis Code, and is a standard format for seismic data storage. It is machine-readable only, and can only store a single axis of data.
  • SACA is the Alphanumeric version of SAC, and is (somewhat) human-readable

You can export all of the current data, or just the selected portion.

Selecting a region of the graph

To select a region of the graph, just drag across it. The area between the start and end of the drag will be highlighted in blue.

Alternatively, you can click at the start of the desired region, and then shift-click at the end of the desired region.

Exporting the data

To export the data, choose File/Save as Data...

Save Data panel

In the window that appears, choose whether to save the selection only or the entire graph, and the file format (CSV, or SAC/SACA). If you choose SAC/SACA, choose binary (SAC) or alphanumeric (SACA) and which axis to export.

If you need to save more than one axis to a SAC or SACA file, just make your selection and then Save as Data once per axis. The selected region will stay constant so that the saved files will represent the same period of time.
