5/30/01: Here's the nest under
our deck, with a parent's head peeking out. |

5/31/01: The parent again, looking
suspicious. Once I get any closer, it will fly away. It will be back
within a few minutes of my leaving. |

A few hours later, the remaining
eggs had been moved around. I believe the parents turn the eggs regularly
in order to keep the yolk centered. |

grid of bumps on their backs are the beginnings of feathers. |
